ATLANTA - This past weekend was a memorable one for the Mount Vernon varsity girls and boys swim teams.
The Mustangs posted multiple high finishes in various events and placed the highest in program history at the GHSA State Championships at Georgia Tech on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 7-8.
Below is a recap of the event.

-200 Medley Relay: 10th place 1-3A Schools - Savanna Messner, Rachel Taylor, Anna Clare Hull, Sarah Eaves.
-MV Girls' Team overall result was 27th in 1-3A schools.
-200 Medley Relay: 2nd place 1-3A Schools - Evan Bell, Sam Whiting, Hayes Beamon, Patrick Casey.
-200 Freestyle Relay: 2nd place 1-3A Schools - Evan Bell, Sam Whiting, Hayes Beamon, Patrick Casey.
-Evan Bell: 100 Backstroke - 10th place 1-3A schools
-Sam Whiting: 100 Butterfly - 9th place 1-3 A schools; 100 Breaststroke - 8th place 1-3A schools.
-Hayes Beamon: 50 Freestyle - 3rd place 1-3A Schools; 100 Freestyle -2nd place 1-3A schools.
-MV Boys' Team overall result was fifth place in 1-3 A schools.
"The kids really brought it this past weekend," Bell said. "They represented our school very well and we are all proud of them!"
